Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has once again criticised the officials for a number of major decisions which all went against his team during a 5-1 loss against defending champions Manchester City.
The ex-Bournemouth boss felt particularly aggrieved at the decision to award the Citizens a penalty early in the game as Rayan Ait-Nouri caught Josko Gvardiol inside the box, a split-second after the Croat got his shot away.
This was not the first time that O’Neil has criticised VAR and he had already just served a one-match touchline ban for his comments after Max Kilman’s disallowed goal against West Ham, which he described as the ‘worst decision he had ever seen.’
For better or worse, however, VAR is here to stay and although Howard Webb plans to make the process more transparent in the near future, as it stands it has been a thorn in the side of many top-flight managers who feel that is costing them points.
