Mikel Arteta’s goalkeeping roulette between Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya has prompted continuous exit links in the runup to the January transfer window.

The Gunners are currently top of the table and hold an excellent defensive record despite the instability between the posts as the influence of players such as Declan Rice in midfield and William Saliba in defence continues to prove pivotal.

However, it appears to be an inevitability for Arsenal to face interest for Aaron Ramsdale given the quality of his performances in the league last year where he was awarded a place in the PFA Team of the Season.

Ramsdale made a return to the team in his side’s most recent 1-0 victory over Brentford, but looked cagey at times during the first half, which is perhaps a result of his lack of match sharpness. A number of teams are believed to be closely monitoring the uncertainty of the England goalkeeper who admitted he is concerned about his lack of game time as he bids to be the first choice starter for his country at Euro 2024.

In an earlier interview with The Mirror, the ex-Bournemouth shot stopper said: “I need to get back into my club team to keep getting picked (for England) and keep giving the manager a headache because if I'm not, then that's an easier decision for him.”

Reports from Football.London reveal that Arsenal have rejected an approach from an unnamed bottom half club for the goalkeeper, while the Mirror add that Wolves are monitoring the situation closely. It remains to be seen whether Wolves were the club that made the approach for Ramsdale, but reports claim that Gary O’Neil is a huge admirer of the goalkeeper who could one day become the successor to first choice starter Jose Sa if he was to leave.

Wolves are not alone in their interest in Ramsdale and other notable contenders for his signature appear to be London rivals Chelsea and German champions Bayern Munich, according to Mail Sport.

Chelsea have struggled with goalkeepers in recent seasons after the departures of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy in the summer and Robert Sanchez is currently the man in between the sticks after his summer arrival from Brighton. Bayern are believed to be eyeing up a replacement for long-term goalkeeper Manuel Neuer who is approaching the twilight years of his career in the game at 37.
