One former Wolves striker has gone from the Scottish Premiership to the seventh tier of English football.

Former Wolves striker Adam Le Fondre has dropped into the non-league after making his latest transfer.

The 37-year-old for the first time in his career will be playing semi-professional football after signing with FC United of Manchester. Le Fondre had been training with them and has now agreed to a contract.

Speaking to FCUM after joining, he said: “As I was sort of speaking to clubs, a couple of league and a couple of non-league, nothing really spoke out to me you know project wise and stuff.

“One of my best friends here is the captain Charlie Ennis so for me it was one of the main reasons was so I can play with him. It’s something we’ve not been able to do.

“This has given me the opportunity now to play non-league. FC United of Manchester are a historic club now even with a short history.

“A lot of people know about them and the noise they have made since they have been around. I’m proud to be here.”

Before joining FC United of Manchester, Le Fondre’s last club was Scottish Premiership side Hibs. He scored five goals in 29 games but his contract at Easter Road wasn’t extended.

During his time at Wolves, he joined on loan from Cardiff City when Kenny Jackett was in charge, and scored three goals in 30 games. He was most successful during his time at Rotherham United and Sydney, scoring 58 goals for the Millers, and then 73 goals for the Australian outfit.

Le Fondre boasts one of the best goals to games ratio in Premier League history for a striker, and scored 12 times in 34 games, in his one and only season in the English top-flight. He has also played for Bolton Wanderers, Wigan, Stockport County and Rochdale.
