Wolves are back amongst their home supporters as they host Newcastle United at Molineux in the Premier League on Saturday, October 21.
It was a winning return to action following the international break as Gary O’Neil masterminded a win over his former players AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
Dominic Solanke gave the Cherries the lead but Matheus Cunha levelled proceedings just after half-time and then Sasa Kalajdzic continued his habbit of scoring late goals by netting the winner in the 88th minute. The victory lifted Wolves up to 12th and created a further gap between themselves and the relegation zone with five points separating them and 18th-placed Burnley.
Newcastle were victorious also and cruised to a 4-0 win against Crystal Palace with Jacob Murphy, Anthony Gordon and Sean Longstaff all scoring in the first-half. Callum Wilson inflicted further damage onto the Eagles and the win put Eddie Howe's side in sixth after match-day nine in the Premier League.
The Magpies also played in the Champions League on Wednesday night and lost 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund at St James' Park with several injury concerns to report to rub salt into the wounds of their defeat.
A win for Wolves on Saturday could lift them into mid-table whilst Newcastle would go above Aston Villa with a victory. Wolves' last win in the league against Newcastle United was on October 2, 2021.
