Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Fabio Silva has cost doubt over his return to Molineux at the end of the season.

The Portuguese frontman spent the first half of the season on loan at Belgian club Anderlecht before making a similar move to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven during the January transfer window. The 20-year-old has taken well to life in Holland with four goals and one assist in 11 appearances for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side as they challenge alongside Ajax and Feyenoord for the Eredivise title.

It is the latter of that trio that currently lead the race as they hold a six-point lead over Ajax, with Silva’s temporary employers two points further back. Silva is expected to return to Wolves at the end of the season - but he has revealed he would be keen to extend his stay in Holland in a recent interview.

He told Voetbal International: “If it’s up to me, I’ll definitely stay here for another season because I think it’s good for my development.

“The last goal we scored against Cambuur, with Xavi (Simons), Anwar (El Ghazi) and me, showed how much fun we have together, I would like to continue that. But like I said, it’s not always up to me. Moreover, my focus must first be fully on the title race and the cup tournament. I want to win trophies here and I believe we can still become champions.”

Sporting CP forward Pedro Goncalves has plundered his way to 14 goals in 30 domestic appearances for the Portuguese giants but it is his form in European football’s second competition that has led to interest from elsewhere.

The 24-year-old has netted four goals in as many appearances in the Europa League, including a stunning strike from the halfway line that earned his side a draw at Arsenal before Sporting came through a penalty shoot-out against the current Premier League leaders.

Several clubs from around Europe have been linked with the winger but Portuguese outlet A Bola have suggested Villa are preparing an offer of around £40m to hand Goncalves an opportunity to shine in the Premier League.
