Brentford have reportedly joined Wolverhampton Wanderers and Celtic in the race for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

The Bees, seeking to replace David Raya following his permanent £27 million switch to Arsenal, have expressed an interest in signing Kelleher this summer, a report from Liverpool Echo states.

Wolves and Celtic have both been heavily linked with signing the Republic of Ireland international as both clubs are eager to improve in the goalkeeping department. Jose Sa’s shot-stopping has been impressive but Gary O’Neil wants a better distributor, while Celtic’s Joe Hart recently hung up his gloves.

Kelleher is determined to leave Liverpool this summer as he believes it’s now the correct time to become a first-choice rather than a backup. The 25-year-old enjoyed more minutes than ever before last campaign as he stood in when Alisson Becker suffered regular injuries.

But the extra game time has just increased Kelleher’s hunger even more and it’s looking increasingly likely that his nine-year Liverpool stay will soon come to an end. It’s been reported that a fee of £15 million will be enough for any potential suitors to acquire Kelleher’s services.

Kelleher has publicly expressed desire to leave

The Irish number one recently admitted his wish to depart Anfield in an interview ahead of international duty. “Coming off the back of the season where I played the most games I’ve had, my confidence is very high,” Kelleher told FAI TV.

“I think clubs will have been looking as well and seeing me play, so hopefully there’ll be some interest elsewhere. I think the time is right now,” the goalkeeper said, eager to prompt a transfer.

Kelleher played 26 times across all competitions for Liverpool last season, conceding 32 goals and keeping five clean sheets. He has made a total of 47 senior appearances for the Reds since emerging from the academy in 2019.
