West Brom close in on signing of Levante winger Kareem Tunde

Albion are set to complete the signing of a new winger.

Albion are closing in on the signing of Levante winger Kareem Tunde.

The 21-year-old Spaniard, who is also of Nigerian heritage, is set to become the Baggies’ eighth summer signing.

Boss James Morrison confirmed the winger’s addition is in its final stages after his side’s brave 3-2 EFL Cup defeat at Premier League Newcastle United.

Morrison said when asked about the move: “It’s close.”

Former Espanyol and Barcelona academy youngster Tunde is set to make a permanent transfer to The Hawthorns.

It is believed the deal will be worth around £4million in total, with an initial payment of around £2.5m.

Pacy winger Tunde burst on to the scene with La Liga side Levante last Christmas and went on to become a regular as the Valencian club dramatically avoided relegation from the top flight at the end of last season.

A new winger has been a priority for boss Morrison given the departures of Karlan Grant and Jed Wallace earlier in the summer. Tunde also adds much-needed pace to the side.

Albion confirmed the £2.5m sale of defender Krystian Bielik, 28, to Championship rivals Cardiff earlier on Wednesday.

Morrison, his staff and squad are staying in the north east until Saturday due to the tight turnaround before the early weekend kick-off away to Middlesbrough.

The Baggies could be boosted by Tunde’s arrival, as well as the return from suspension of striker Aune Heggebo, for Saturday’s clash at the Riverside.
