'See the best deal for Danny' - James Morrison verdict on West Brom target Imray
The right-back has enjoyed an incredible run of form.
Albion and Crystal Palace will hold summer talks over the next steps for right-back Danny Imray.
The 22-year-old was a revelation under James Morrison in the final two months of the season and a key part of the escape from relegation.
Imray is a summer target for the Baggies as Morrison and club hierarchy look for big improvements from a disastrous Championship campaign.
It remains unclear how parent club Palace view the full-back’s development. Imray is understood to be contracted until 2027 at Selhurst Park.
Asked about Imray’s next steps, Morrison told the Express & Star: “He's done well.
“There's a process to everything and I'm sure there'll be conversations and both parties will see the best deal for Danny.”
Imray could be of interest on another loan or permanent deal at The Hawthorns.
His future may take some time to be clarified as his Premier League parent club, who are UEFA Conference League semi-finalists, will lose boss Oliver Glasner this summer.
Londoner Imray has emerged as an exciting, attack-minded right-back who fitted perfectly into the successful 4-4-2 formation Morrison used to stave off relegation.
Imray endured a difficult first few weeks after his January loan, where he was targeted as a wing-back under Eric Ramsay.
But Morrison inspired thrilling form from the loanee, who started 14 games and played 17 times in all competitions. He netted in the important 3-0 win over Watford.
Imray was snapped up by Palace from non-league in 2021 and has enjoyed eye-catching loans at Bromley, Blackpool and now the Baggies.
Albion are expected to bolster the squad this summer, with an improved profit and sustainability picture at the club to allow a backing of Morrison by owners Bilkul.
Six first-team players, some of who are among the big earners, are out of contract.
