James Morrison's Felix Horn Myhre vow after West Brom attacker's late goal heroics

Felix Horn Myhre has had to bide his time for a telling moment as an Albion player - and will hope Saturday’s last-gasp heroics will be the start of many to come.

James Morrison vowed last-gasp goal hero Felix Horn Myhre’s time will come for Albion after a starring cameo against Blackburn.

The Norwegian summer recruit is looking for lift-off in his Hawthorns career following an anticipated £2.5million summer move from Brann.

A wait of more than two months for a first Championship goal ended on Saturday, as versatile attack-minded midfielder Horn Myhre emerged as a late substitute to convert a dramatic 89th-minute fightback winner over Rovers.

The Norway international, 27, has started just six of the 11 league matches so far, with another two introductions from the bench, but is rated highly by the head coach, who believes his time will come.

“I know what a good player he is,” Morrison said.

“We’ve had conversations of just being patient and his time will come.

“When he gets there, and gets the momentum and used to it, there’s a player there.”

Morrison felt Horn Myhre, who quickly became one of a young squad’s senior heads in the summer, might be able to take advantage of space left by Blackburn defenders as a late change for Jimmy-Jay Morgan, who is now six games without a goal.

The match-winner latched on to an excellent header from compatriot Aune Heggebo to settle the thrilling contest.

The head coach said: “In the game I heard a few murmurs ‘oh why are you taking JJ off? He’s the top goalscorer...’ - but I thought the spaces were really there for a player of his type.

“It’s credit to him, he was there at the back post. We’re talking about a winger arriving at the back post, because there’s a lot of goals there.”

Morrison praised Horn Myhre’s reaction when being left out of the side.

“Sometimes as a manager, when you’re not playing them and you tell them, you are waiting for the reaction,” he said.

“But his reaction was the right way. He’s very open-minded and can see the truth and what’s happening. His time will come, like I said before, because I know what a good player he is.”
