James Morrison outlines plan for new West Brom star Rabby Nzingoula
The Frenchman is the cause for excitement among the Baggies camp.
Boss James Morrison is using his gut feeling for the right time to unleash exciting new Albion recruit Rabby Nzingoula.
The French midfielder, a £2million summer signing from Strasbourg, has caught the eye in his first few weeks at The Hawthorns.
Nzingoula has appeared in three Championship cameos, the latest in Saturday’s defeat at Middlesbrough where he was broke, and impressed in his full Albion debut in the EFL Cup exit at Newcastle last week.
Head coach Morrison revealed the 20-year-old is still finding his feet and fitness in adjusting to English football - but the Scot has seen the lively Nzingoula’s qualities and knows his time will come.
Asked if Nzingoula is making his case as a regular starter, Morrison said: “Yes, but I feel like he still needs time to build up his fitness.
“(He needs to) Get into the game understanding of how we do things.
“But I can see his talent, so I'll know when it's the right time for him to play.”
Albion beat off Swansea for Nzingoula’s signature. Technical director Dominic Price is understood to be a long-term admirer of the France youth international.
Morrison, meanwhile, is wary of his side shipping regular goals at poor times.
There are no clean sheets in five games for the Baggies yet this term. Morrison wants a return to the form that brought five shutouts on the spin and seven in 12 late last season.
“I've seen how far we've come,” Morrison said in review of six points from nine. “Probably from the first Norwich game, again, admittedly we weren't at our best, but we had that determination to try to win, and being dogged when you're away from home.
“We probably might have got a little bit excited on Saturday with how much possession we had in good moments, and didn't think about being solid.
“Because previously when I was in the interim, we had loads of clean sheets. The sloppiness of goals, late at Rotherham, late at Norwich, the Burnley goal.
“The timings of goals - Newcastle scored against us after we just got back into the game. But we'll develop that, we'll get out of it.”
