James Morrison confidently points to West Brom record for visit of high-flying Millwall

Albion have impressed in home games against in-form sides recently.

Boss James Morrison is confident Albion can turn on the style against another of the division’s top performers for Millwall’s visit on Friday.

The Baggies, unbeaten in six games, welcome the automatic promotion-hunting Lions to The Hawthorns under the lights.

Alex Neil’s visitors have been one of the Championship’s surprise packages this term and sat second after winning at high-flying rivals Middlesbrough on Good Friday, but were seen off by in-form Norwich at The Den on Monday.

Morrison’s resurgent side have impressed with performances against Southampton, Hull and Wrexham, taking five points from the sides currently sitting fifth to seventh, and the head coach is confident his side can produce again.

“We just have to focus on ourselves, that’s all we can do,” Morrison said. “I am trying not to look (at the table).

“I am just trying to focus on each game and picking up points.

“If we can do that, we will be fine. There is another home game coming up on Friday against a tough side. We tend to do well against tough sides.

“There have been good performances. I am looking forward to a game against opponents who test you in many different ways.”

Morrison’s men made it six games unbeaten with Easter Monday’s goalless draw at Blackburn, where the Baggies were unable to break the deadlock despite the support of 7,500 travelling fans.

It was noted the Albion boss neglected to turn to threadbare options on his bench against fellow lowly side Blackburn.

The Baggies’ bench contained five teenagers - Harry Whitwell, Ollie Bostock, Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba, Hindolo Mustapha and Eseosa Sule. A small squad is currently hampered by injury absentees, though some - including Chris Mepham and Tammer Bany - are due back in the coming days, with Karlan Grant also close.

Morrison’s sole change was striker Daryl Dike with a little under 20 minutes remaining at Ewood Park.

The head coach admitted he neglected more change because his side were “competitive”.

“I was thinking about changing it all through the game on Monday but we were competitive and I didn’t want to lose that,” he added.

“That’s why I made a couple of changes to the line-up, to be competitive and fight. You saw that on Monday, so I have no complaints.”
