'Bit of a fight': Honest Jayson Molumby outlines what West Brom lacked in Blackburn draw

Jayson Molumby believes a lack of quality in Albion’s draw with Blackburn turned the game into ‘a bit of a fight’.

It was a game that was billed as a big six pointer in the battle for survival - but it failed to deliver in terms of quality.

Albion had the best chance through Aune Heggebo - but neither side did enough to really deserve to win the game, as they had to settle for what could be an important point come the end of the season.

And Albion skipper Molumby was in an honest mood - and he admitted Albion lacked quality and the game turned into a bit of a ‘fight.

He said: “I think, given this time of the season, we don't want to get points, we want to win. But I think today there was probably a massive lack of quality from both sides really.

“I think it just turned into a big fight and, look, away from home is really tough in the Championship. On another day, you might mix up and come away 1-0 and get three points.

“But I think the effort, the attitude was there, so we're happy with the points at the end.”

There was a nervous tension around the ground from the fans - and for some it felt like that was part of the performance from the players.

But Molumby believes it wasn’t a case of the players being nervous.

He added: “No I don’t think nerves was the feeling on the pitch.

“I think it was, look, I think maybe we lost composure a little bit at times, where we were snatching at things a little bit.

“And I think it's probably a composure thing. I think they changed shape at half-time and they were certainly better in the second half.

“So, yeah, it probably took us a while to adapt. But I think after the first 15-20 minutes, we adapted reasonably OK.

“And then, like I said, it turned into a bit of a fight throughout the game.”
