West Brom manager Steve Bruce will take charge of the Baggies at the Hawthorns for the first time on Monday evening with third place Blackburn Rovers the visitors.

Bruce’s first game in charge midweek didn’t result in the “manager bounce” that many were expecting or at least hoping for as he watched his men come out on the wrong side of a 2-0 scoreline at Sheffield United.

Early on, however, before Jake Livermore’s dismissal which ultimately cost West Brom the game, the Baggies were the better side and showed a fight that hasn’t been seen for weeks.

Monday’s match with Rovers is now a chance to see where this team are really at. At home, under the lights against a promotion rival. A win in this one could go a long way for belief as much as anything and once again put opponents on alert that the Baggies are a side to be feared.

Here’s all the information you need ahead of the contest.

Team news

West Brom will be without Jake Livemore who is now suspended for four games following his straight red card he received in the 2-0 loss to Sheffield United.

Kyle Bartley (illness), Matt Phillips (injury) and Daryl Dike (injury) are all confirmed out for the hosts, too.

Dara O’Shea returned from his own respective injury when he was brought on in the final few minutes of last week’s defeat but a start may come too soon for him here.

Harry Pickering and Tyrhys Dolan could return for the visitors whilst Tayo Edun (ankle), Dilan Markanday (hamstring), and Bradley Dack (knee) all remain out.

Head-to-head record

There isn’t much to separate the two sides historically over the years. The Baggies have won 46 games to Rovers’ 53 with 31 draws.

Albion to boast the better recent record, though. Blackburn have just one win in the last 10 years over West Brom with the Baggies picking up four victories in that same span.

The reverse fixture earlier this season also favoured Albion. Alex Mowatt and Matt Phillips both scored at Ewood Park to cement a 2-1 victory and keep the unbeaten start to the season alive.

Feels like a lifetime ago, right?
