West Brom look set to complete their second signing of the summer with former Millwall and Portsmouth favourite Jed Wallace.

That’s according to Portsmouth News who state that Albion have been able to see off a whole host of clubs including Burnley, Watford and QPR for the winger’s signature.

The ex-Pompey favourite is currently a man in-demand with interest from West Brom, Leeds and Turkish side Besiktas. The Millwall man is set to become a free agent next month after his five year stay at the Den looks to come to an end. He scored 39 times in 225 appearances for the Lions following his 2017 switch from Wolves. During his career at Pompey, the 28-year-old amassed 121 outings, while netting 27 times as well as being awarded the player of the season in his final campaign for the Blues. The ex-Pompey favourite is currently a man in-demand with interest from West Brom, Leeds and Turkish side Besiktas. Wallace has spent the last six-years with the Baggies’ Championship rivals Millwall but failed to come to terms on a new contract with the London club.

That means the 28-year-old will become a free agent on July 1st and has opted for a move to the Hawthorns for the next stage in his career.

Wallace, who also had a spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers, brings to an end a six-year spell in which he made of 250 appearances for the Lions, scoring 42 goals and providing 48 assists in that time.

It’s a huge pull for Steve Bruce to see off such a wide range of suitors, especially with such a big season on the horizon.

Albion will be going all out for promotion next year after falling well below par in 2021/22 and the signature of Wallace is hoped to be the first of many.

Bruce had previously stated that he wants as many as six new faces through the door this summer though that will of course include shipping some of the deadwood out, something they are yet to do.

Wallace however does look set to put pen-to-paper and become the second deal of the transfer window, following former Reading man John Swift through the door.

The 28-year-old is set to be announced in the coming days.
