West Brom are currently preparing for another year in the Championship

West Brom have appointed Ryan Mason as their manager to replace Tony Mowbray. The 34-year-old has been handed a three-year deal at The Hawthorns running until 2028. He has left his position as a coach at Tottenham Hotspur to take over.

The Baggies will be aiming to get into the play-offs next season. They have the chance to bolster their ranks with some signings this summer. In the meantime, here is a look at where the players they signed during the 2015/16 campaign are now...

West Brom defensive additions

West Brom signed James Chester from Hull City to boost their defensive department. The former Wales international only stayed for a year before moving to Aston Villa. He is now retired after spending time at Salford City.

The Baggies landed Jonny Evans to add more competition to their options at the back. He left Manchester United to join them and went on to play 96 matches altogether. The Northern Irishman has hung up his boots now and is a player pathway manager at Old Trafford.

Defensive midfielder Sandro joined West Brom in 2016 on loan from QPR. He made 13 outings before heading back to the Hoops. The Brazilian made a couple of appearances in non-league for Harborough Town last term in the Southern League Premier Division Central.

Goalkeeper Andres Lindegaard was snapped up to add cover to the Baggies’ goalkeeping position. Prior to his move, he played for Manchester United. He quit the game back in 2022 after a final stint at Helsingborg in his native Denmark.

West Brom attacking reinforcements

Further up the pitch, West Brom brought in James McClean from Wigan Athletic. He has since returned to the Latics for a second spell, as well as spending time at Stoke City. The 36-year-old is now at Wrexham and helped them go up this year under Phil Parkinson to the second tier.

The Baggies acquired Rickie Lambert from Liverpool a decade ago to add more firepower up top. He spent only 12 months with them though and wasn’t able to reach the same heights he did at Southampton. The Kirby-born man is now a youth development coach at Wigan.

Salomon Rondon also rocked up for the Baggies during this season. He caught their eye playing in Russia for Zenit Saint Petersburg and fired 28 goals in 120 outings during his time in the Black Country. The striker is now a free agent after cutting ties with Pachuca in Mexico.

It is strange to think that Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry once had a loan at West Brom. He was given the green light to link up with them by Arsenal to get some more experience under his belt. His career has since taken off and he has become a standout player for his current club in the Bundesliga.

Attacking midfielder Alex Pritchard also had a temporary stint with the Baggies from Tottenham Hotspur. The ex-Spurs man now plays in Turkey for Sivasspor. He joined the Super Lig team from Birmingham City last year.
