Following the return of Nathaniel Chalobah against Watford on Monday evening, West Bromwich Albion now have just three certain absentees for Saturday’s clash with Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns. Carlos Corberan still has one doubt to deal with, though, and Boro have a host of their own issues.
The Baggies will have to make do without Kyle Bartley, who is out for another five weeks or so following a scan on a quadriceps injury. Winger Matt Phillips is set to miss the majority of the campaign with a similar issue, whereas Australian midfielder Tom Rogic wasn’t in the matchday squad at Watford and he remains a doubt with a hamstring strain.

Hide AdLeft-back Kean Bryan, who is yet to feature under Corberan, is still on the injury table. He is expected to remain there for months to come, meaning Conor Townsend has no real threat to his spot. Other than that, there are no fresh Albion injury concerns to report.
Middlesbrough, on the other hand, are without midfielder Alex Mowatt as he’s ineligible to face his parent club. Central defender Matt Clarke, who spent time on loan with the Baggies last campaign, is ruled out.
Michael Carrick confirmed the defender has “plenty of willingness to get back” but will be “out for a little longer”, meaning a Hawthorns reunion isn’t possible. The Boro players to watch are Championship top scorer Chuba Akpom and Aston Villa loanee Cameron Archer, who netted twice in a 3-1 win at Sheffield United recently.
Ruled out: Bartley, Phillips, Bryan (WBA); Mowatt, Clarke (MID).
Doubts: Rogic (WBA).
