West Brom host Bristol City at The Hawthorn's in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday (March 16) afternoon.

Both teams played on Sunday and were victorious in their matches. The Baggies live on Sky Sports for the third game in a row swept aside Huddersfield Town, beating them 4-1. Michael Johnston scored a brace whilst Kyle Bartley and Okay Yokuslu were also on target.

The Robins won 1-0 against their Severnside Derby rivals Swansea City, winning through a Rob Dickie header in the second-half. Eight places and 16 points separate West Brom in fifth and Bristol City in 13th. The two sides played to a goalless draw back in September and that was when Nigel Pearson was in charge but since then they've had a change of manager, appointing former MK Dons boss Liam Manning.

Both Carlos Corberan and Liam Manning have injuries to attend to and that will enter their thinking when naming their team on Saturday. Here's the latest injury and team news ahead of their pre-match press conferences this week.

West Brom team news

Brandon Thomas-Asante return to action by coming off of the bench Huddersfield. The 25-year-old came back quicker than expected after dealing with a hamstring injury. Centre-back Kyle Bartley after missing the game against QPR also played and scored against Huddersfield, and so the injury situation is clearing up a slight bit.

Conor Townsend has missed the last two matches having limped off against Coventry City a fortnight ago. He was dealing with a hamstring issue and whilst it wasn't deemed too severe it did cause him to miss two matches. It is hoped that he can return at the weekend.

It has not yet been confirmed but it is likely that Andi Weimann will be missing this weekend. He is on loan from Saturday's opponents and given Taylor Gardner-Hickman prior to his permanent move wasn't allowed to play against the Baggies, it's unlikely the Austrian will be allowed to feature against his permanent employers.

Jayson Molumby has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his foot. He hasn't played since New Year's Day, and Carlos Corberan said that the plan was now for him to be ready for pre-season.

‘It’s impossible," admitted Corberan on Molumby. The challenge is to start the pre-season with him.

‘That’s the only possible target that we have. We knew that with the surgery it was a long-term injury. ‘He has a boot, he is on the bicycle with his boot – one side with his normal foot, with the other with the boot! It’s still this. He is in the process of this.’

Daryl Dike is out for the remainder of the year after rupturing his Achilles. Martin Kelly suffered a calf injury and it is unlikely that he plays for the first-team this season.

Josh Maja and Matt Phillips are both targeting Easter for when they will return after lengthy lay-offs. Phillips damaged his hamstring whilst Maja has been dealing with an ankle problem.

Out: Andi Weimann, Daryl Dike, Jayson Molumby, Josh Maja, Martin Kelly and Matt Phillips. Doubtful: Conor Townsend.

Bristol City team news

Scott Twine has recovered from injury and could make just his second appearance for the West Country outfit after joining on loan from Burnley. A quad issue has put him out for the past seven weeks and he was ready to play against Swansea City on Sunday but a loan froced Liam Manning in to making a defensive minded substitution instead.

George Tanner and Matty James both received injections for MCL and Achilles problems respectively and will be closely monitored. It is hoped by the Bristol City boss that Tanner could return at the weekend but discussions will need to be had with the head of medical. Former Man United and Leicester City midfielder James could join in with training this week.

Kal Naismith remains sidelined having initially looked like he would return to action. He felt his calf in the build-up to the game against Cardiff City, and so far his return has been delayed. The 32-year-old has not made a match-day squad since the end of November.

Ayman Benarous remains on the sidelines for the visitors. The academy graduate suffered an ACL injury in April 2022 and has not made an appearance for the first-team since having suffered setbacks in his recovery.

Sam Bell was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign in February after suffering a 'really bad' hamstring injury. The 21-year-old required surgery for a significant tear of the tendon and that will put him out for three months, putting an end to his season.

Rob Atkinson like Benarous is another long-term absentee and hasn't played for the senior team since damaging his ACL in February 2023. Atkinson like Benarous played for the under-21s but a hamstring injury set him back, and it is now possible he could miss the rest of the season.

Out: Ayman Benarous, Kal Naismith, Rob Atkinson and Sam Bell. Doubtful: George Tanner and Matty James.
