West Brom are aiming for promotion to the Premier League from the Championship

West Brom were beaten 1-0 away at Norwich City over the weekend in their latest Championship outing. They weren’t able to find an equaliser at Carrow Road and returned home with nothing. Striker Josh Sargent scored a late winner for the hosts as they took all three points.

The Baggies turned to Tony Mowbray back in December following Carlos Corberan’s exit to Valencia. He made the decision to return to The Hawthorns for a second spell. He has also managed the likes of Middlesbrough, Celtic, Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Birmingham City in the past and is an experienced boss in the Football League.

West Brom update after Norwich City

West Brom are sat in 6th place in the table with seven fixtures left to play in this campaign. They are inside the play-offs along with Burnley, Sunderland and Coventry City. Bristol City and Middlesbrough are both chasing down the Baggies right now and are level on points.

Speaking after their defeat Norwich, Mowbray said: “We had general domination in the game. It’s frustrating to lose. It’s cruel. That’s probably the word, rather than frustrating. You don’t always get what you deserve in football and we obviously didn’t get what we deserved today.

“I genuinely couldn’t see them scoring to be honest. They weren’t near our goal or threatening us. They had two decent chances through pieces of brilliant play because they’ve got some brilliant individual footballers, but generally, we dominated.

“We have to score a goal. The bottom line is we can’t complain because we didn’t score a goal. You have to score with so much possession, so many shots and so many chances – the ball has to go in the net. It didn’t today. I’m not sure it was our players misfiring in front of goal. Their keeper made some good saves in the first half and in the second half. I didn’t see any glaring misses where we simply had to score.”
