West Bromwich Albion kickstart their Carabao Cup campaign on Tuesday evening as they take on fellow English second-tier outfit Stoke City at bet365 Stadium.
Just three days on from the opening day of the Sky Bet Championship, the Baggies have a quick opportunity to put the 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers behind them.
Carlos Corberan’s men suffered two quickfire goals in the first half at Ewood Park and were unable to bring it back, even despite the best efforts of Matt Phillips.
Now, though, another competition awaits and Albion fans will be eager to see their side progress to the second round, matching the performance of last season.
Corberan was shown a red card in the dugout and it awaits to be seen whether he will be on the touchline or not, with his punishment not yet disclosed.
Regardless, West Brom are likely to field a rotated squad on Tuesday, displaying the depth at Corberan’s disposal. With that in mind, here’s the XI we think will start.

1. GK - Josh Griffiths
Should get game time in the cup considering Alex Palmer is the number one choice in the league. | Getty Images

2. RB - Darnell Furlong
Just as he was last campaign, we expect Furlong to be the right-back option consistently. | Getty Images

3. CB - Kyle Bartley
Was benched for Semi Ajayi at the weekend and should be a straight swap for rotation purposes. | Getty Images

4. CB - Caleb Taylor
Lost his spot in the XI to Cedric Kipre on Saturday but should come back in this midweek. | Getty Images
