West Bromwich Albion get the new Sky Bet Championship campaign underway on Saturday afternoon as they travel away to Blackburn Rovers.
Carlos Corberan’s side had a rocky pre-season with just one win in six matches but will be eager to impress when it counts, in what is the first competitive outing of August.
Albion’s head coach has some key decisions to make with the centre-back partnership a big talking point and the choice of striker an important one following Josh Maja’s signing.
West Brom are without a victory in their last three meetings with Blackburn, who were a direct competitor for the play-off spots last term and could be once again in 2023/24.
Corberan and his men will be hoping they can set that particular record straight, putting on an impressive display at Ewood Park with the intention of claiming all three points.

1. GK - Alex Palmer
Ahead of Josh Griffiths for the spot between the sticks, though there’s not too huge of a gap between them.
2. RB - Darnell Furlong
Just as he was last campaign, we expect Furlong to be the right-back option consistently.
3. CB - Kyle Bartley
Toss-up between Bartley and Semi Ajayi for this spot really, but we’ve gone for the former as he edged it throughout July.
4. CB - Caleb Taylor
Impressed in pre-season and was a regular in League One for Cheltenham Town last term. Risky to play a youngster but we think Corberan will back him.
