West Brom player ratings vs Middlesbrough: O’Shea has a tough return, Townsend continues to disappoint

Steve Bruce is still searching for his first win as West Brom manager

West Brom’s winless run stretched to six games after they fell to a 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough on Tuesday evening.

Jayson Molumby gave Albion the lead with a deflected effort midway through the first-half but goals from Paddy McNair and Marcus Tavernier completed the turnaround for the home side.

The result means it’s now six without a win for the Baggies and four without victory since the arrival of Steve Bruce.

It was a really positive opening hour for Albion whose Jekyll and Hyde side were out in full glory at the Riverside.

Molumby’s strike gave them their first goal in over eight hours of Championship football and they looked to finally, finally be heading to that allusive three points.

But after McNair had fired in the equaliser, there was only really going to be one winner.

Albion crumbled at the slightest sniff of adversity and the second Tavernier knocked in Boro’s second, the visitors didn’t even get close to threatening again.

The Baggies slip all the way down to 11th, six points from a play-off spot.

Here’s our player ratings from another disappointing defeat.
