Former West Brom youngster Jenson Sumnall joins Peterborough United

Former West Brom youngster Jenson Sumnall has agreed a deal to join Peterborough United in League ahead of next season, following the expiration of his contract with the Baggies.

Peterborough have developed a reputation for helping young footballers grow during the fledgling stages of their careers - players such as Britt Assombalonga, Ivan Toney and most recently Ronnie Edwards have all seen their stock rise massively during their time at the Posh. As such, Sumnall will be hoping they can have a similar effect on his young career.

Speaking in a recent interview featured on Peterborough’s official club website, Sumnall said: “I’m over the moon to be joining such a prestigious club.

“I have been made to feel very welcome, having spent two years at West Brom I feel I have developed well as a player and off the pitch too, so I am ready to kick on here at Posh.

“If you look at the Club’s record of progressing players through, it’s really good and ultimately why I am here. When you see young players like Ronnie Edwards playing first team football it is exciting, it’s what I aspire to do.”

West Ham United and Southampton targeting Hull City star Jaden Philogene

West Ham and Southampton both have highly-coveted Hull City winger Jaden Philogene in their sights, according to a recent report from TEAMtalk. Both outfits are looking to make additions to their attacking ranks before the 2024/25 season kicks off - bringing such a dynamic, home-grown wide man on board would be an excellent way to do this.

Philogene burst on to the scene last season for the Tigers. He scored 12 goals and notched up six assists over the course of 33 Championship appearances - while it remains to be seen if he can replicate this in the Premier League, he has been undeniably impressive thus far.

Understandably, Hull are unwilling to let their talisman join another club and will do whatever they can to keep him at the KC Stadium after the transfer deadline passes. Nevertheless, they are ‘braced’ for offers - although they have yet to set an asking price as of yet. It will likely take a large offer to pry him from their hands, though time will tell.
