Corberan has hailed the importance of winning the match yesterday and was relieved to get all three points. The Spaniard told the official club website: “It was a really important three points tonight because we understand the situation which we are facing in terms of not being where we want to be. We achieved the target which was winning the game.

“It was important to get that first step of winning a game, especially at home in front of our fans because we want to create a level of togetherness here which will help us become stronger as a team.”

Liam Rosenior, who The Sun claim held talks with the Baggies over their managerial position earlier this month, is closing in on the Hull City job. The Tigers are poised to announce his appointment today, as per Hull Live.

Birmingham midfielder Jordan James has admitted that his game time has dried up a little bit this season. He has told Sky Sports: “I haven’t played as much as I did last season. I was playing regularly at the start but more recently I’ve come out of the side. We’ve got players in and there’s good competition now, whereas last season we were a bit lower on numbers.

“But I’m using it as an opportunity to think of myself and how I can improve, instead of thinking about others. Being out of the team was a knock, but I think I’ve taken it well and I’m working hard in training every week so if I do get back into the side I can perform to the best of my ability.”

QPR boss Michael Beale has tipped for the Blues to be in and around the play-off positions come the end of this campaign and has told the R’s website: “They played well and have a good team - I expect them to be around the play-offs come the end of the season. Everything that could’ve gone wrong, went wrong.”
