Inside West Brom transfer business including Bristol City, Burnley, & QPR deals - as per FM24

Ever wondered how some transfers are structured? Football Manager 2024 tries to give an insight into the workings of some deals.

West Brom's 2023/24 summer transfer window was far from exciting as the club carefully navigated through the parameters of Financial Fair Play amid uncertainty of the club ownership.

Josh Maja signed on a free transfer after leaving Bordeuax was the only permanent signing for the first-team whilst Ruben Shakpoke was signed for the under-21's. Jeremy Sarmiento and Pipa came in on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion and Ludogorets respectively but really Carlos Corberan has had to work with what he worked with last year as well as the return of some stars like Alex Mowatt and Cedric Kipre.

Several players left this summer but it was only Dara O'Shea who was sold to Burnley that they received a fee for. Jake Livermore left for Watford, Tom Rogic retired and David Button's contract was terminated so he could join League One strugglers Reading.

The inner workings of transfer deals are usually kept away from supporters but Sports Interactive’s last edition of Football Manager tries to give players the opportunity to work out how a deal is structured.

When you load up the game and choose your specific team, you can explore all kinds of things and there is a ‘clauses’ section on the transfers tab, which throws up some interesting information. It provides a list of players that will include things such as sell-on-fees, as well as meeting certain targets and outstanding transfer payments. We must stress that this is according to the game and the inner workings of the deals might be different.

Here, strictly according to FM24, are the current clauses put into the deals of players currently on the books of West Brom - as well as those who have left. *FM24’s clauses may not be fully representational of the real-life situation. Flick through to see all the players and their respective deals.
