West Brom will face stiff competition from a number of Championship rivals if they are to pursue a move for Newcastle United’s attacking midfielder, Elliot Anderson.

Anderson, 19, spent the second-half of last season on loan with League Two side Bristol Rovers, becoming a firm fan favourite during his short stint and helping the Gas secure automatic promotion on the final day.

According to ChronicleLive, Albion, Luton Town, Huddersfield Town, and Millwall have all ‘registered an interest’ in the teenager who is currently away on the Magpies’ pre-season tour of Austria.

The 19-year-old has featured in all three of Newcastle’s friendly games so far and his performances in Austria in particular have really been catching the eye.

Anderson is keen to keep making an impression in an attempt to break into Eddie Howe’s first team, however, understands a loan may still be the best option for him.

“I’ve just got to try and impress as much as I can really, and do my best,” he told NUFC TV.

“I’ve got to try and compete for a place around the team and see how I can do.

“I think not trying too hard to do that (is important) - just do your stuff, and see if you catch an eye, and work as hard as you can. It’s kind of like a free hit - I’ll give it my best shot, and if they think I need another season out (on loan), I’m happy to do that. Whatever’s best for me.”

“I’d say for me, probably playing games is the most important thing, to be honest - carrying on my run that I have, and just trying to keep striving,” he added.

“Hopefully that’s here, or if it’s somewhere else on loan, I’ll be giving it my all.”
