Former West Brom man 'wanted' by Celtic as Portsmouth face European competition for Norwich forward
The 2024 summer transfer window is well underway and we have already seen some massive transfers take place in the Championship and beyond. What is happening around West Bromwich Albion and the rest of England’s second tier today? Let’s take a look...
A former West Brom defender, who currently plies his trade for recently-relegated Burnley, could move to Celtic in the summer. Despite this, the Clarets may not be so willing to part ways with him just yet, due to his ‘major’ importance to their squad.

Former Baggie Dara O’Shea in Celtic’s sights
Dara O’Shea is a man demand. Despite leading the line in a shambolic Burnley defence last season, the former West Brom player has attracted major interest from reigning Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, according to a recent report from the Daily Record.
Nevertheless, Burnley regard O’Shea as one of their best defenders - as such, it may take some serious persuasion before they will be willing to let him move to another club. They have not set an asking price for the player, nor is he on the transfer list - as such, it is unknown how much money it will take for Burnley to let him go.
Additionally, Burnley are currently without a permanent head coach, following Vincent Kompany’s departure to wounded giants Bayern Munich. With no manager at the helm, it will be very difficult for Celtic to conduct business with the Clarets - as a a result, it is unlikely that Celtic will make an approach for O’Shea any time soon.

Portsmouth have been heavily linked with a move for young Norwich City striker Abu Kamara in the summer transfer window - but recently, a roadblock has been thrown up in their way. Belgian outfit Anderlecht are also thought to be in the race, recent reports suggest.
This is according to a post on X (formerly Twitter) from journalist Pete O’Rourke, who wrote: “Norwich winger Abu Kamara is a target for Belgian giants Anderlecht this summer. Kamara impressed on loan at Portsmouth last season.”
Having recently been promoted back to the Championship, John Mousinho’s men are understandably looking to make a statement signing ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Bringing such a promising young player on board would be an excellent way to do this, but they may face a struggle as Anderlecht are currently in the Europa League qualifiers. They may be able to offer Kamara European football next season, which could turn the youngster’s head.
