West Bromwich Albion and Celtic supporters are in agreement that Mikey Johnston's loan to The Hawthorns has been the best possible move for the winger.

Signed in January on a temporary basis after a strugglesome start to the season in Scotland, Johnston has been a revelation for West Brom, helping Carlos Corberan's side charge on towards securing a Sky Bet Championship play-off spot. The Republic of Ireland international has scored half a dozen goals in just nine matches, including a brace against Huddersfield Town on Sunday.

It's been a major improvement from Johnston, who appears to have had the shackles thrown off. West Brom fans are trying not to get too attached as the loan deal didn't include a buy option, whereas Celtic fans are licking their lips at a potential lucrative summer sale. A potential compromise could be reached to get the best outcome for all parties but there's still a long way until the window opens.

In the meantime, Albion and Celtic fans have been united in enjoying the 24-year-old's success in the English second tier. One West Brom supporter took to X - formerly Twitter - to say: "Mikey Johnston's desire here is completely unrivalled. How on earth has he got himself into a goalscoring position?"

Another then penned: "I'm really trying not to fall in love with Mikey Johnston, because if we don't sign him in the summer I'm going to be gutted," before a Celtic fan wrote: "He's been a joke for WBA. Nine appearances, 11 shots, six goals, one assist. Wow." That wasn't all, as another of the Celtic Park faithful said: "The bhoy is adding value to himself every game."

Other comments included a West Brom fan expressing: "I just watched the highlights and I don't think it's settled in with me yet just how good Mikey Johnston is," and a Celtic supporter writing: "Johnston averaging a goal every 85 minutes in the Championship since arriving. Absolutely delighted for him, hopefully we pull in a decent fee in the summer after this form."

All the appreciation for Johnston is certainly warranted as the player has been a terrific signing for West Brom thus far. Corberan and all those associated with the Baggies will be hoping the goalscoring form continues as Albion look to secure a Championship top-six spot.
