Hide AdThe Republic of Ireland international was a regular starter throughout November and December but he has fallen down the pecking order since Liel Abada's return from injury. The signing of Nicolas Kuhn hasn't helped things, either, prompting a potential January exit.
Scottish publication Daily Record reports Johnston has attracted the interest of West Brom late on in the window, while fellow Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City are also keen. It's claimed both teams are "keeping a close watch" on Johnston's situation.
It's unclear whether Celtic would be open to a late transfer but Kuhn's arrival from Rapid Vienna certainly makes it likelier than it would have been a few weeks ago. An immediate battle for play-off football could also be tempting.
