Jeremy Sarmiento 'set to join' West Brom's Championship rivals following loan recall

The latest transfer news in the Championship as West Brom's divisional rivals, Ipswich Town, look set to sign Jeremy Sarmiento from Brighton.

Brighton & Hove Albion winger Jeremy Sarmiento is expected to join Ipswich Town on a six-month loan deal after seeing his West Bromwich Albion spell cut short. The Ecuadorian left The Hawthorns on January 1 due to Brighton ending the season-long loan prematurely for a lack of game time.

Sarmiento played 20 times for the Baggies in the Sky Bet Championship, scoring twice, but just seven of the appearances were as a starter. The Seagulls were hoping the Ecuador international would be a key figure for West Brom but he became more of a rotation option under Carlos Corberan.

Ipswich immediately made a call to Brighton for the 21-year-old and an agreement has now been reached, reports Ecuador-based journalist Maria Jose Flores. Sarmiento will join the Tractor Boys until June and could spend another 12 months at Portman Road if promotion to the Premier League is achieved.
