West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested in signing in-form Peterborough United forward Kwame Poku this winter but face fierce competition from a number of Sky Bet Championship rivals.

The Baggies, who are said to be looking to enhance their front line, have pinpointed Peterborough's star player as a main target. TEAMtalk reports West Brom are joined by Ipswich Town, Sunderland, Millwall, Bristol City and Stoke City in the fight, however, making it a potentially tricky transfer.

Poku has scored six and assisted six in 16 Sky Bet League One appearances this campaign and had a direct hand in 15 goals in 37 matches last season. He struggled in the Championship the term before that as he failed to score in 20 games, but he was merely a teenager back then.

The Posh's versatile attacking midfielder, who can play anywhere across the front three or just in behind the striker, has really come into his own during 2023/24. Poku, whose current contract runs until June 2025, has proven to be one of the best players in the entirety of League One.

Where would Poku fit in at West Brom?

It may be tricky to throw the Ghana international straight in at The Hawthorns as Grady Diangana, Jed Wallace and Brandon Thomas-Asante have started to pick up some form. Poku's versatility would likely be vital, however, as he could slot in anywhere across the attack when needed.

If he then gained some form of his own, Poku could then perhaps become a regular starter for Albion. The problem perhaps lies with the competition for the deal as West Brom may have to promise consistent game time to convince Poku of his destination.
