West Bromwich Albion are back in Championship action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Wales to take on Swansea City.

Both sides go into the game off the back of morale boosting derby victories last time out. The Baggies defeated cross-city rivals Birmingham City 1-0 on Friday night whereas the Swans thumped Cardiff City 3-0 meaning confidence will be sky-high in each of the camps.

Team news

There are no fresh injury concerns for either side ahead of the game.

Swansea welcomed back a number of key players for their game against Cardiff including Olivier Ntcham who may now be ready for a start.

Grady Diangana missed the win over Birmingham City with a hamstring problem but could come back into contention for the game with Swansea.

West Bromwich Albion: DDWWLW

The Baggies are flying high at the moment. Sitting just three points off the top of the table, many will be viewing a game against 17th place Swansea as an opportunity to reduce that gap.

Although the Swans only have three wins to their name this season, two have come over the course of the last four including that big win over their arch rivals last off.

Head-to-head record

West Brom have the better recent record between the two sides but only just.

The last 10 meetings has seen the Baggies pick up four wins to Swansea’s three with three draws.

The two last faced off in March 2020, playing out a dull 0-0 draw at the Swansea.com Stadium. West Brom will however, happily take that result on Wednesday night once again if it means this season ends in similar fashion to that one.

Predicted line-ups

Swansea City (3-4-2-1): Hamer; Bennett, Naughton, Manning; Laird, Bidwell, Downes, Grimes; Ntcham, Paterson; Piroe

West Bromwich Albion (3-4-3): Johnstone; Ajayi, Bartley, Clarke; Furlong, Townsend, Mowatt, Livermore; Phillips, Robinson, Grant

Score prediction

Swansea City 1-2 West Bromwich Albion

It will be a tough test for the Baggies on Wednesday evening facing a side full of confidence and one that is working many key players back to fitness.

With that said, I think Ismael’s side will nick it by the odd goal. The strength in depth of West Brom to see them through, just.

Betting odds

Swansea City: 11/4

Draw: 12/5

West Bromwich Albion: 1/1
