Notts County are interested in keeping West Brom midfielder Quevin Castro for longer. His loan spell expires next month and their boss Luke Williams has told Nottinghamshire Live: “There is definitely a thought of extending his loan.

“I think that depending on the recruitment and whether players become available and as a group we feel like they push us forward, we will then take a view of how Quevin fits in. But certainly he has been a fantastic asset to the squad and has given us so much, so we are very happy with Quevin and he is in a really good place for us, but we will see what happens in the future, but I wouldn’t rule anything out either way.”

Ex-Baggies striker Charlie Austin is becoming a free agent again and will be weighing up his next move in the game. He has decided to call time on his spell in Australia with Brisbane Roar.

Birmingham City

Former Birmingham midfielder Neil Danns has been appointed as interim manager of non-league side Macclesfield. The 40-year-old will be assisted by another ex-Blues player in Mark Duffy at the Leasing.com Stadium. The Silkmen are currently top of the Northern Premier League Division One West.

John Eustace has outlined his desire to keep hold of midfielder George Hall. The 18-year-old has been linked with Leeds United but his boss has told BBC Sport: “For me, George Hall is one of the top young players in the league. He’s a very effective player whether he starts or we have him coming off the bench.

“He’s only just turned 18 - and he’s got an opportunity to showcase himself here. We don’t want George Hall going anywhere. Apart from the three or four we have got coming through - George Hall, Jordan James and Jobe Bellingham - it’s also about giving minutes at the right time to the likes of Josh Williams, Alfie Chang and Tate Campbell.”
