Play-off hopes shattered: West Brom player ratings vs Birmingham City

It was a pretty dreadful day at the office for Albion who all but end their play-off hopes.

West Brom’s slim hopes of a Championship play-off place are all but over after a 1-0 defeat to rivals Birmingham City.

Lyle Taylor scored a second-half penalty in a game that will not live long in the memory of anyone, especially those of the Albion contingent.

Aside from what looked to be a stonewall penalty appeal of their own which was turned away in the third minute, the Baggies offered nothing in the way of creativity or imagination.

Whilst they may not have deserved to lose, they certainly didn’t deserve to win.

Here’s our player ratings from the loss at St Andrew’s.

West Brom (3-5-2): Johnstone; Ajayi, Bartley, Clarke; Furlong, Mowatt, Livermore, Gardner-Hickman (60’ Diangana), Townsend (75’ Reach); Grant (68’ Carroll), Robinson
