West Brom man in transfer talks with League One club following Wrexham links

According to Football Insider, Faal is in talks to join Barnsley on a loan deal. He has attracted interest from several clubs across the EFL, but the Tykes are hoping to bring him to Oakwell as they look to bolster their front line after losing their top scorer Devante Cole to the Baggies.
West Brom and Barnsley recently did business with Callum Styles heading to the Hawthorns for an undisclosed fee. It was suggested before the deal was completed that Faal could be part of the deal but that turned out not to be the case, but the young forward could still ahead to Yorkshire for what would be a beneficial loan for his career.

Hide AdLast week, West Brom transfer insider DOOD (@EyaWeGew) said that Wrexham had been interested in signing Faal on a permanent deal. Both clubs are in competition to sign the player and if a permanent deal couldn't be agreed then he would still depart the club, but on loan instead. His contract with the club expires next summer, and so West Brom could be faced with the decision of selling him now, or seeing how he fares on loan, before considering offering him an extension.
The 21-year-old has so far made three senior appearances for the first-team and he recently netted in the 2-1 defeat to Fleetwood Town. He was an unused substitute against QPR on the opening day of the Championship season but he has since missed out against Leeds United and Stoke City. At academy level, Faal has a respectable return, having got a combined 22 goals and six assists in 59 games for the under-18 and under-21 teams.
He has had five separate loan spells so far and spent last season out on loan at both Doncaster Rovers and Walsall. He notched up 15 goals and two assists across all competitions for Donny and the Saddlers. His other clubs include AFC Fylde, where he got 10 goals in 16 games in the National League North, as well as Telford United and Hereford.
West Brom have already added to their front line this summer with the signing of Devante Cole, whilst Josh Maja has been in good form. They are also hoping to get Daryl Dike back in the coming months as he recovers from an Achilles injury. In the final few days of the transfer window, a striker could be on the agenda too with the club considering a second approach for Will Keane.
