West Brom are interested in signing Jay Mingi from Portsmouth this summer as his current contract is set to run out next month. Pompey manager John Mousinho is not going to let him leave without a fight though and is keeping an open mind when it comes to the midfielder’s future.

”That’s why we’ve kept the contract offer on the table. That’s part of why we’ve kept that there,” Mousinho said. “There was a conversation with Jay in January which went along the lines of, ‘I think you’re a terrific player with a load of potential.’”

As it stands though, Mingi is yet to pen a new deal and could be looking to compete in a higher division, which is of course what Albion can offer him next season.

John Eustace tipped for Swansea job

Birmingham City boss John Eustace has been named as a potential contender to take over from Russell Martin at Swansea City, who is set to become the manager of newly relegated Southampton.

Eustace only joined the Blues last summer and despite it being his first coaching role in the football league, he managed to get the players back onside on ensure the team stayed in the Championship following the departure of Lee Bowyer.

Swansea have been monitoring Eustace’s progress in the midlands and are keen to bring him in to replace Martin. This isn’t the first time he has been linked to the role either, back in 2021, he reportedly turned down the opportunity due to personal reasons.
