A new name has been linked with a move to the Hawthorns - he’s currently playing in the MLS.

West Brom have been credited with interest along with four other Championship teams in Nottingham Forest's Lewis O'Brien.

The transfer window is shut but come January, players should become available as they bid to turn their fortunes around. O’Brien is currently on loan at Los Angeles, and right now they are involved in the MLS play-offs. The regular season is now over, and O’Brien’s season will at most be extended to December 7, which is the date of the play-off final.

When January comes, the MLS season will have come to an end, and O’Brien will be available for transfer, though it’s believed that Los Angeles do have an option to buy him permanent, but it remains to be seen whether they will activate that. According to TEAMtalk, the Baggies along with Hull City, Stoke City, Leeds United, and Sheffield United are all interested in O'Brien.

The 26-year-old has made 15 appearances for Los Angeles so far, registering one goal and one assist. He has started in all nine of their league matches, and helped them finish top of the Western Conference.

O'Brien is not a part of the first-team picture at Forest, and has been limited to 17 appearances since joining from Huddersfield Town in 2022. He made 13 appearances in the Premier League, but has since had loan spells at D.C. United, and Middlesbrough.

The Colchester born-midfielder helped the Terriers reach the Championship play-off final, before losing to Forest. At Championship level, he's played a total of 149 times, with a record of 11 assists, and eight goals.

West Brom's current central midfield options are Callum Styles, Jayson Molumby, Ousmane Diakite, Uros Racic, and Alex Mowatt. They currently have four players on loan in Mason Holgate, Lewis Dobbin, Uros Racic, and Paddy McNair, but McNair's loan will expire in January, as he is due to link up with San Diego FC. A Championship club is allowed a maximum of five loan players in a match day squad.
