West Bromwich Albion have had a slightly below start to the new EFL Championship season but are still in the running for the play-off spots.
The October international break has given Albion the chance to reflect on their first 11 matches. There’s also been time to ponder the players who’ve impressed the most and least.
Carlos Corberan’s side are only two points off the top six as things stand but inconsistencies have been clear and there could be action taken in January to reflect that.
From players who haven’t had enough game time to those who have struggled or shone, here are five who could leave and six who definitely won’t.
1. Jeremy Sarmiento - could leave
Brighton were promised that the Ecuadorian would be a regular starter for Albion but that is yet to be the case. The Seagulls could decide to recall Sarmiento if his game time doesn’t improve before January. | Getty Images
2. Martin Kelly - could leave
Making progress with his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury and a big decision awaits in January. Hasn’t played a single game since his one appearance on loan at Wigan Athletic last term. | Getty Images
3. Nathaniel Chalobah - could leave
Joined with plenty of promise in January but hasn’t been able to solidify a spot in the starting XI. A player of his experience and reputation won’t want to hang around for much longer if that continues. | Getty Images
4. Caleb Taylor - could leave
Impressed in pre-season but has been down the pecking order in competitive fixtures, with minutes few and far between. The 20-year-old could depart on loan this winter if a suitable opportunity arises. | West Bromwich Albion Football Club
