Eight realistic Premier League free agents that West Brom could sign including former Aston Villa and West Ham stars
BirminghamWorld have taken a look at some of the top free agents recently released from Premier League sides to see who could be a realistic option for Albion.
West Bromwich Albion are still looking to significantly strengthen their squad ahead of the new Championship campaign.
After a rapid start to the transfer window at the Hawthorns which saw them bring in former Reading midfielder John Swift, things have quietened down a little in recent weeks.
It’s not panic stations yet though as most dealings around Europe won’t be completed until we hit July and contracts begin expiring left right and centre.
Steve Bruce was after a big overhaul in the Albion team that finished well below par in 2021/22 and there’s nothing to suggest that has changed.
Pretty much all areas of the squad needed strengthening with the right mix of youth and experience key.
The use of the free agent and loan market is always an important tool for sides too and Albion have already proved that by acting quick to snap up Swift.
But who else is currently on the market?
BirminghamWorld have taken a look at some of the top free agents recently released from Premier League sides to see who could be a realistic option for Bruce and the Baggies this summer.

1. Andriy Yarmolenko
The 32-year-old was released by West Ham but showed he’s still got bags of quality in appearances last season. Would be a coup in the Championship. Photo: Getty Images

2. Conor Hourihane
Spent last season on loan at Sheffield United and recently released by local rivals Villa. Could be tempted by an option to stay in the area and would strengthen Baggies midfield significantly. Photo: Oisin Keniry

3. Matej Vydra
Has a superb record in Championship football and unlikely to be offered a new deal at Burnley. Could be worth a punt as another option up front alongside Dike though is currently recovering from injury. Photo: GLYN KIRK

4. Ryan Fredericks
A drop to the Championship may be too much to ask for West Ham right-back Fredericks but he’d be a huge pull at this level. Furlong has had little to no competition in that area and Fredericks would go straight in as first choice. Photo: GLYN KIRK
