West Brom 'test the waters' to sign 29-goal Ange Postecoglou favourite wanted by Southampton and Watford

The latest transfer news as West Brom, Southampton and Watford bid for a Celtic player Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou loved.

West Bromwich Albion have reportedly had a loan offer rejected after testing the waters for Celtic winger Liel Abada.

The 22-year-old, who has gained the attention of clubs in France and Germany, has also been the subject of failed bids from Watford and Southampton. A full Israel international with 10 caps and one goal, Abada has been a consistent starter and goalscorer for Celtic for three seasons.

Why, then, would Abada be a realistic transfer target for any club on loan? The Daily Record explains several members of the pro-Palestine stance are among the Celtic support, raising questions about whether Abada could remain in Glasgow long-term amid the ongoing conflict with Israel.

As stated by our sister publication Glasgow World, former Celtic star Nir Bitton has been a vocal critic of the Hoops' fans. Meanwhile, several Israeli international team-mates and pundits in Adada's homeland have advised him to make a move away from the Scottish champions as soon as possible.

The Daily Mail, albeit not directly mentioning the potential reason behind an Adada departure, reports West Brom, Southampton and Watford have all tested Celtic's resolve. All three clubs have, however, been rebuffed rather quickly in their bids to sign a player who shone under Ange Postecoglou.

It awaits to be seen whether Celtic were merely rejecting the terms of the loan offers or if they are completely against letting Abada go. Either way, West Brom are likely to try again as Carlos Corberan is desperate to bring in another forward to follow Andi Weimann through the door.

Adada, who plays predominantly on the right wing but can also be utilised on the left or through the centre, has contributed 29 goals and 22 assists in 109 Celtic appearances. He started his career at Israeli side Maccabi Petah Tikva, where he netted 20 and created 10 in 76 games.
