Championship team of the week dominated by West Brom, Leeds United, Southampton and Coventry City

The second weekend of Championship football in 2024 was a scintillating one as 38 goals were scored across the 10 matches played. Strikers and attacking midfielders shone as huge results threw open battles at both ends of the table.

West Midlands sides Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion enjoyed success. Tony Mowbray's debut ended with Blues securing a late 2-2 draw against Swansea City, while the Baggies thrashed Blackburn Rovers by four goals to one.

League leaders Leicester City were stunned as they lost 3-1 to play-off hopefuls Coventry City after going down to 10 men. That allowed Ipswich Town, Leeds United and Southampton to close the gap with wins over Sunderland, Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.

Other results included Hull City 1-2 Norwich City, Huddersfield Town 1-1 Plymouth Argyle, Preston North End 2-0 Bristol City, Rotherham United 0-1 Stoke City, Millwall 1-3 Middlesbrough, and Queens Park Rangers 1-2 Watford.
