Championship team of the week dominated by West Brom, Sunderland, Sheffield United and Watford - gallery

Here’s how the final Championship team of the week of the season shapes up, as West Brom, Sunderland, Sheffield United and Watford dominate the XI.

The final day of the Sky Bet Championship season certainly didn’t disappoint as 30 goals were scored in the 12 matches played, with some big repercussions in the race for the play-off spots. Five teams headed into the day with the chance to finish in the top six and there was plenty of movement.

Coventry City secured fifth place with a 1-1 draw away at Middlesbrough but Millwall dropped out of the play-off positions as they lost to Blackburn Rovers in a 4-3 thriller at The Den. This allowed Sunderland, who thrashed Preston North End by three goals to nil, to move up to sixth.

Blackburn’s win meant they missed out on goal difference alone, whereas West Bromwich Albion were leading but let it slip as Swansea City came from behind to win 3-2 in South Wales. Well out at the top of the league, Burnley reached 101 points by beating Cardiff City 3-0 and Sheffield United got to 91 with a 2-1 victory at Birmingham City.

Elsewhere in the division, Neil Warnock said farewell to Huddersfield Town with a third successive win, beating Reading 2-0. The already-relegated Wigan Athletic drew 0-0 with Rotherham United, Luton Town and Hull City couldn’t be separated in a 0-0 stalemate, Watford beat Stoke City 2-0 for some final-day smiles, and Bristol City beat Queens Park Rangers by the same scoreline. There was also a narrow 1-0 win for Blackpool at Norwich City as the Tangerines said goodbye to the Championship in style.

So many players impressed this Monday just gone that it would be difficult to select just 11 to form a team of the week but, rather thankfully, WhoScored’s rating system makes things a lot easier. With that in mind, here are the best-performing stars based on WhoScored ratings. See below.
