West Bromwich Albion didn’t get the desired instant impact when they replaced Valerien Imsael with Steve Bruce.
The new manager bounce that so often comes with appointments midway through a season never came for the Albion and it wasn’t until his sixth game in charge that he managed to get that long awaited win.
In fairness to Bruce he has since followed that up with another good point against Huddersfield Town and whilst the play-offs do look a long-shot from this point - they are still a possibility.
In that run of five games without a win, the Baggies played out a 0-0 draw with Blackburn Rovers, another team who were high-flying at that moment in time.
And whilst Rovers remain in the play-offs, they’ve been on a torrid run of form of their own as shown by the table since Bruce’s arrival.
Another massive shock when you take a look at the league below is the position of Barnsley who have ramped up some last ditch attempts at a great escape in Yorkshire.
This may, in the grand scheme of things mean nothing whatsoever but it makes for interesting reading nonetheless.
Here’s a full look at the Championship league table based ONLY on games since Steve Bruce was appointed Head Coach of West Bromwich Albion...
