Championship's richest owners and how West Brom, Burnley, Hull and Watford chiefs compare

West Brom's summer transfer business is about to get underway - but how much could they spend against their rivals?

West Brom might fancy their chances of success next season as excitement builds for the 2024/25 Championship season.

The Baggies have been handed their fixture list and they will begin against QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday, August 10 at 12.30 pm. Carlos Corberan's men then finish the campaign against Luton Town at the Hawthorns on Saturday, May 3.

As to what will happen from between the start to the end of the season will come down to how equipped WBA are for promotion. Last year, Corberan and the team defied expectations by finishing fifth, but they couldn't get over the line after losing to Southampton in the play-offs.

Corberan had to work with players who under previous managers had fallen out of favour. Alex Mowatt and Cedric Kipre returned to become key players, and now club await the decision of the two players after offering them new terms.

Last season, it was a case of making free agent and loan signings to complement the squad with no money exchanged for any players. This summer looks a little bit different, as this is the first transfer window since Shilen Patel’s takeover was completed. The first signing of the Patel era looks to be Tobjorn Heggem after an agreement was made to sign the IF Brommapojkarna star on a permanent deal.

Money doesn't always guarantee you success but those with bigger pockets are most likely to be at the top end of the division. You only have to look at Leicester City who won the league and Southampton who went up via the play-offs to see that teams in receipt of parachute payments are more likely to be in the promotion picture.

With that in mind, how does the wealth of West Brom's majority owner compare to the rest of the Championship as business begins to pick up? Here thanks to figures collated by our friends at the Sunderland Echo, we take a look:
