West Brom host non-league opposition as Aldershot Town travel to The Hawthorn's for an FA Cup third round tie on Sunday (January 7).
The Shots of the National League entered at the fourth qualifying round stage and have already claimed two upsets. Tommy Widdrington's side beat Lewes 4-1 and then in the first round proper they beat Swindon Town of League Two status 7-4 at The County Ground. Aldershot took high-flying Stockport County to a replay after a 2-2 draw at their home ground and then won the replay 1-0.
This is the first competitive meeting between the two sides. WBA have won the competition five times in their history and reached the semi-finals in 2008 whilst Aldershot have reached round three for the first time since 2014.
It may be a New Year but it's the same old story for the Baggies who have several injury concerns to contend with. The Africa Cup of Nations takes place in the Ivory Coast this month and both Grady Diangana and Semi Ajayi will be unavailable for selection to Carlos Corberan.
The likelihood is that Carlos Corberan will make a raft of changes and has already admitted that Daryl Dike should start. Dike hasn't played since February 2023 and this match provides an opportunity to ease him back into competitive football.
Despite their non-league status, the Shots also have representation at the AFCON. Haji Mnoga - on loan from Portsmouth - is away on international duty with Tanzania. Josh Stokes - a 19-year-old midfielder who joined from Sudbury this summer - is their top scorer with 15 goals in 28 games this season but will also be absent.

3. Jed Wallace - out (continued)
Corberan said on January 5: "The scan of Wallace showed that he has a grade 2 injury of the adductor in the right leg. It's true that if you see the injury, why it appeared, it's a fatigue injury. "This muscle activates when the player makes crosses. If you analyse the games, the last two games, he made more crosses than in any of the games before. "The number of games, the repetition of similar actions, can create this type of injury in the player. This injury is around 15 to 21 days, from the moment it appeared, it can give you a bit of possibility to imagine how long it is going to take.” | Getty Images
