Latest West Brom news as the Baggies prepare for the visit of Cardiff City to The Hawthorn's on Tuesday night

West Brom are preparing for the visit of Cardiff City to The Hawthorn's on Tuesday night, as the two battle in the EFL Championship.

The Baggies conceded a stoppage time goal to Ipswich Town last time out, and will rue the opportunity of being unable to close the gap on the Tractor Boys. To make matters worse, Daryl Dike and Kyle Bartley were both forced off in the draw. Both players will undergo scans to understand the severity of the injury but in Dike's case it's a big blow given he has only just returned from an eight-month lay-off from an Achilles injury.

Here's your latest West Brom headlines on Monday, February 12.

Coach offered 'enticing contract' at West Brom

Take this with a pinch of salt given how popular Carlos Corberan is amongst supporters. Reports in Italy, most specifically from Tuttosport, claim that the Baggies have made an offer to Ivan Juric, who is the manager of Torino. Juric will be out of contract at the end of the season and announced he would be departing Torino in a press conference. Tuttosport claim that Juric has been offered an 'enticing' contract and that it is worth €2m per season in wages.

Corberan is under contract at The Hawthorn's until the summer of 2027. He was tied down to a new deal last year amid interest from his former club Leeds United.

Former Baggies star denied Hawthorn's return

Callum Robinson is unlikely to play against his former club West Brom because of injury. Robinson was at WBA from January 2020 to September 2022, and made 95 appearances in total for the Baggies, scoring 17 goals. He was sold to Cardiff for a reported £1.75m in September 2022, but is unlikely to play against WBA. He has been out of action since January 6, and did not feature at the weekend against Preston North End.

Cardiff manager Erol Bulut said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Preston on February 8: "Callum Robinson is running and doing well, but he’s not yet back with us for playing."

Karlan Grant is unavailable as he can't play against his parent club and will have to sit out against the club in which he is contracted to until 2026. The 26-year-old has been a constant figure in Cardiff's side and has got four goals and three assists in 29 games this season.

Takeover update

The Athletic is reporting that takeover plans are accelerating with a big step made this week. Chris Farnell, an English sports lawyer has headed to China with Alex Hearn, who is reportedly owed £4m from owner Guochuan Lai. The pair have travelled to Asia to try and close a staged takeover of WBA. US businessman Shilen Patel is in 'pole position' to secure an agreement and the trip to China is a move that makes the takeover a bit more of a possibility.
