How the 24 teams in the Championship rank in the average away attendance table

The Championship is one of the most watched leagues in the world when it comes to fan attendance.

Not many countries in world football can boast the level of support of English football’s second tier, and it is in the top 15 for one of the most support divisions in Europe. Some of the teams playing in the Championship have played in Europe before, including Birmingham City who played in the 2011/12 season.

Home attendance is what most fans sing about, but having a good away following is also a sign of how big your team is. Both Midlands club were at home at the weekend, with Blues drawing 2-2 with Ipswich Town despite a two-goal lead whilst West Brom beat Hull City 3-1 at The Hawthorn’s. Elsewhere in the Championship, Leeds United inflicted a 1-0 defeat on league leaders Leicester City with more than 3,000 supporters watching.

In the final round of fixtures before the second international break of the season. Birmingham City have an early start as they kick-off at 12.30 pm against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, which is one of their longest journeys. West Brom are away at in-form Southampton, with the normal kick-off time of 3.00 pm at St Mary's.

Ahead of the matches at the weekend involving our two Midlands teams, we take a look at their away support and the 22 other teams in the division.

Here is how all 24 Championship teams stack up when it comes to away followings. All figures are based on the information that is gathered by EFL website The 72.
