Birmingham City FC has worked with the council to open a Book of Condolence for Blues legend Trevor Francis at the Library in Centenary Square

A Book of Condolence has opened for footlball legend Trevor Francis following his death aged 69 on Monday (July 24).

Birmingham City FC has worked with the council to open the memorial to the club’s former star player and manager who was Britain’s fist-ever £1 million footballer.

Blues said the book will enable fans to record their magic moments and best wishes for Trevor’s family and friends. It will be returned to St Andrew’s in the coming weeks. The Book of Condolence is open to the public until 5pm on Monday (July 31). Please note two extra days were added with the original deadline being Saturday.

A spokesperson for Birmingham City said: “Following the heartbreaking passing of Blues legend Trevor Francis, the Club is working with Birmingham City Council to host a Book of Condolence. Housed at the Library of Birmingham, supporters will be able to write down their memories, magic moments, and best wishes to Trevor’s family and friends in a special memorial book. It will be returned to St. Andrew’s and the words and stories will be shared with fans in the coming weeks.

“The library will be welcoming well-wishers. The book will be positioned in the Wellbeing Zone, located on the right-hand-side of the entrance foyer. The Club hopes as many Bluenoses, and Brummies, as possible are able to pay further respects to our greatest ever player. Rest in peace, Trevor Francis.”
