Wolves star 'destined to leave' as three exit routes 'still open'

Goalkeeper José Sá’s future at Wolves is uncertain following the recent £10 million deadline day arrival of Sam Johnstone from Crystal Palace.
Sá has been the Old Gold’s first choice shotstopper for the past three seasons in the Premier League but there have been doubts over his distribution. Johnstone was signed as a player to provide intense competition - and that could still work out to be the case - but Sá is not one to sit back and play second fiddle.

Hide AdA move to the Saudi Pro League looked the likeliest option for the Portugal international but no move materialised before the Saudi transfer deadline on Monday night. There are plenty of alternative destinations still available, though, with three major European leagues yet to see their windows slam shut.
Sá, who racked up 124 appearances for Olympiacos between 2018 and 2021, could theoretically make a return to the Super League as the Greek deadline isn’t until September 11. Olympiacos have 21-year-old Konstantinos Tzolakis as their current number one but Sá could hypothetically become a role model figure.
Another option could be Turkey, with the Süper Lig’s window remaining open for another 10 days. Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen has become the latest player to make the switch, with the Nigerian recently signing for Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal.

Finally, clubs in the Belgian Pro League have another three days to conclude their transfer business. The standard of football is arguably just as high in Belgium as it is in Turkey or Greece. Anderlecht, Club Brugge, Genk and Union Saint-Gilloise are currently among the most competitive clubs.

Hide AdAlthough destined to leave in the not too distant future due to Johnstone’s arrival, the most probable scenario now is that Sá remains at Wolves until at least January to fight for his spot. There could be movement sooner rather than later, though, with plenty of exit routes still available if he wants to take them.
