Another bid has been lodged by West Brom for a midfielder Preston North End are keen on.

West Bromwich Albion have reportedly submitted a second offer to sign Standard Liege midfielder Isaac Price.

A full Northern Ireland international, the former Everton man is a target for Preston North End but West Brom have firmly moved ahead in the race – at least for now.

Price, who made a bold move to Liege last July after leaving Goodison Park on a free transfer, played 28 times in the Jupiler Pro League, scoring one goal and assisting two. It was a decent return in his first-ever proper campaign in senior football as he had played just three times for Everton beforehand.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who was the first to report West Brom’s interest, claims the Baggies have made a second bid after their first was rejected. The monetary value of each proposal awaits to be seen.

It was reported last week that Price could be available for around €2 million (£1.7 million), so it’s implied that Albion are coming short of that figure.

If a breakthrough is found and he joins, the 20-year-old would become the fourth signing of the summer transfer window.  West Brom have already welcomed Norwegian centre-back Torbjorn Heggem, Malian midfielder Ousmane Diakite and experienced goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith for a combined fee of just £500,000.

Funds are limited to make more acquisitions but the imminent exits of Brandon Thomas-Asante and Okay Yokuslu for about £3 million and £1.5 million respectively add a bit more to the kitty. Carlos Corberan will have to conduct astute business as per usual.
