'Medical passed' for £250k West Brom ace to finalise Wrexham transfer

Wrexham are reportedly set to finalise the permanent signing of West Brom’s Mo Faal on deadline day after the striker completed a medical in Wales.

This is according to Talk WBA on X, with a report late on Thursday night stating an announcement is imminent from both clubs. Faal is said to have passed his medical after terms were agreed between the Baggies, Wrexham and the player.

Fellow Albion specialist West Brom Xtra then added the fee is in the region of £250,000-£300,000, a decent coup considering Faal has only made three senior appearances for the club. It has also been speculated that a 20 per cent sell-on clause has been included to bag some extra cash further down the line.

Faal, a citizen of The Gambia, enjoyed strong form during two separate loans in League Two last season. With his spells at Doncaster Rovers and Walsall combined, the 21-year-old netted 13 goals in 45 league matches. This followed on from a five-month stay at AFC Fylde in the National League, where he returned 10 goals in 16 games.

Albion’s academy product is now set to swap the fourth and fifth tiers for regular football in England’s third division. Wrexham have started the campaign strongly, winning two and drawing one of their three fixtures since promotion. Just two points off top spot, Phil Parkinson’s side are eager to go straight up once again.

Faal will struggle to start regularly as Wrexham already have Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer, Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher among their centre-forward options. But Faal’s 6ft 4in stature could give the Red Dragons another dimension, and in turn some decent game time.
